Originally named the Majestic Theater when it opened in 1906, it was once the city’s tallest building with 20 floors. Harry Houdini was one of the great names to grace its Vaudeville stage. It was shut down during the Great Depression and it reopened in 1945 under the name of Shubert Theater. The Shubert staged many favorites such as South Pacific, Carousel and Guys and Dolls. In 2005, the Shubert Theater was inaugurated as La Salle Bank Theater. Some recent productions include Rent and Monty Python's Spamalot.

The Theater District in Chicago’s North Loop is thriving, thanks to the renovation of the City’s most magnificent historic theaters: La Salle Bank Theatre, Cadillac Palace and Ford Center for the Performing Arts/Oriental Theatre.

As with the other renovations in the Theater District, La Salle Bank Theatre was done not only with thought and care to save the beauty of the interior, but with modern technology to present the shows with great lighting and crystal clear sound.
