General Info
At this fine arts museum, the walls are splashed with traditional Mexican colors like turquoise blue, shaded yellow and maroon. Walking into the museum, you are immediately greeted by a huge anthropological map of Mexico, with various ethnic and indigenous groups identified from the North to the South. And just around the corner are gigantic mosaics created with thousands of tiny beads, shrines symbolizing religious and ethnic heritage, sculpted images of Mexican fashion and some of the most striking paintings you will ever see.

Bonny Martinez, Publicity Coordinator for the MFACM, says the museum is significant for both the Pilsen area and Mexicans all over the globe. "There are very few places in the world where a museum is for the community and by the community. And most people are surprised at the diverse collection we have." One of the most memorable exhibits honors Cesar Chavez and his long battle for the dignity and rights of the Mexican immigrant.
