Popular on-going exhibits include Waterways (complimentary raincoats provided), which allows children to splash about and learn how water impacts life in our world, the Inventing Lab, Dinosaur Expedition and Tree House. Small children delight in roaming through the Play Maze, a city scaled to just their size where they rule, as they ease in and out of character as store-keepers one minute and customers the next, bus drivers and passengers. Children go home deliciously-tired having jumped, climbed and crawled on the three-story tall schooner with its myriad rope ladders, rope bridges and slide. Workshops and special activities include: The Kraft Art Abounds Studio where children will always find an Intriguing Arts Activity. Kids Create, for ages two and a half to five years old, meets Thursdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Creative Movement helps children to get in touch with their bodies.
The Chicago Children’s Museum is the ultimate birthday party venue including all-day admission to all three floors plus exclusive use of the birthday party room for two hours. For frequent visitors, Family Memberships are $65.00 a year and include free admission for two adults and all children in the household under 16 years old, discounts on children’s birthday parties, discounts in the Children’s Museum Store and a 35% discount sticker for parking.
The Chicago Children’s Museum is permanently housed in the enormously popular Navy Pier attraction on beautiful Lake Michigan. The Pier’s design was based on the concept of Faneuil Hall in Boston and Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. The Museum is housed on three levels and the top floor, a major exhibit area, reveals a stunning Westerly view of Downtown Chicago. Just outside the Museum on the ground level is a fabulous array of vendors selling all kinds of unique and upscale arts and crafts and a small city of restaurants and food vendors appealing to almost every appetite.
