15th Annual Chicago Half Marathon This 13.1-mile race through the Historic Jackson Park neighborhood and along Lake Shore Drive offers live music along the course, refreshments, a health and fitness expo and prizes for top finishers. A 5K run begins just after the half marathon at 7:45 am

26th Annual Chicago Blues Festival The Chicago Blues Festival is the largest free blues festival in the world and remains the largest of Chicago's Music Festivals. During three days on five stages, more than 500,000 blues fans prove that Chicago is the "Blues Capital of the World."
The free festival kicks off with a tribute to the 100th Birthday of Robert Johnson, the most admired and influential of the Delta blues artists, on Friday, June 10. Renowned performers expected to pay tribute include David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Rick Sherry, Rocky Lawrence, Hubert Sumlin and the Duwayne Burnside Band. Other great local artists of international fame slated to perform include Shemekia Copeland, Lonnie Brooks, Billy Branch and The Sons of Blues, and Dave Specter. |

27th Annual Accenture Chicago Triathlon The 27th Annual Triathlon is the largest event of its kind attracting 800 young triathletes. The race is open to boys and girls ages 7-14, includes individual and relay team divisions, and is limited to 800 kids.
For kids 7-10 years: 100 meter Swim, 4k Bike & 1k Run.
For kids 11-14 years: 200 meter Swim, 8k Bike & 2k Run.
The swim takes place in Lake Michigan in shallow water, parallel to the beach. The bike and run take place on closed park roadways and running paths. It is a great opportunity for kids to break into the sport.

29th Annual Taste of Chicago Taste of Chicago, the city's outdoor feast, fires up its grills for the 29th year, with 287 menu items and 65 vendors serving up good eats from 11:00 pm to 6:00 pm (most days).

31th Annual Chinatown Summer Fair Neighborhood Festival featuring:
A Lion Dance procession at 1:00 p.m. which starts at the Main Stage (23rd St and Wentworth Ave.) with Asian cultural entertainment and a Music Stage (Wentworth Ave. and 24th Pl.) on the hour.
A taste of Chinatown's many restaurants, local unique gift shops, Chinese art's and craft's exhibit, a children area and street vendors with an array of merchandise for a day long family event. |

33rd Annual Chicago Jazz Festival September 1st-4th
Groove for four days straight at the 33rd Annual Chicago Jazz Festival at multiple locations. Millennium Park’s Jay Pritzker Pavilion hosts the opening night concert on Thursday with Randy Weston and the Chicago Jazz Ensemble featuring the arrangements of Melba Liston. On Friday, the Saxophone Summit with powerhouse horn players Joe Lovano, David Liebman, and Ravi Coltrane takes to the Pritzker stage. The festival moves to Grant Park on Saturday with Orbert Davis and his 18-piece Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble followed by world renowned vocalist, songwriter and producer Cassandra Wilson. The Sunday night finale in Grant Park brings Grammy Award winner and trumpeter Roy Hargrove to the Petrillo Music Shell stage |

50th Annual Dearborn Garden Walk One of the nation's oldest neighborhood garden walks, this event draws people from all over the country. New gardens will be offered this year, as well as themed vignettes that demonstrate how to create similar gardens of your own. Visitors can see more than 20 contemporary urban landscaping and Victorian gardens in Chicago's historic Near North neighborhood. |
