The Illinois State Fair was strarted by a  group of farmers who met in January of 1853 to form the Illinois State Agricultural Society offered Springfield the opportunity to host the first state fair.

Dates: August 8th - 17th 2008
The Illinois State Fairgrounds is open from 7:00 am to Midnight for the duration of the Fair. Buildings are open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm
