General Info
Seeing the modest exterior, you would never guess what’s inside. Enter and follow the gangway into a warm club that has never strayed from its theme. Candlelit tables give it a very romantic and cozy feel. It has two levels, and both offer a good view of the stage. They occasionally feature national talent, but usually you'll find the hottest jazz players in town. One of the local talents is Bobby Lewis, a first rate trumpeter. He was conductor and featured trumpet soloist for the late Miss Peggy Lee. He serves as first trumpet for Tony Bennett, when Bennett is performing in Chicago. When Bobby's on stage at The Backroom, you can hear what Peggy Lee called "a sound like no other.”
