With it’s plush booths, velvet curtains, accents of sparkling beads and hues of burgundy and gold, Rumba is the opulent home of one of Chicago’s hottest new dance, dinner, and entertainment venues. It’s classic yet luxe environment transports you to a Havana Supper Club of the 1950s - the perfect environment for a fabulous night on the town.
An evening at Rumba may begin with a signature mojito and ceviche or another of Rumba’s hearty appetizers. Chef Benjamin Soto’s creative take on Nuevo Latino cuisine combines culinary styles and flavors from throughout the Americas. Entrees represent influences from five countries, often on one plate. Rumba also boasts a chef’s room where Soto specially prepares a private meal for you and your guests.
Each evening, a live band takes the stage, playing salsa, merengue and Latin-jazz. Sitting at a table or plush booth, there’s not a bad seat in the house; but soon, many feel the urge to leave their seats and fill the ample dance floor. On weekend evenings, from 9:30 - 10:30 pm, a salsa instructor also provides complementary lessons. The band gives way to a DJ around 11:00 pm, who spins salsa and Latin dance music until close.
Reservations are highly recommended, as is an early arrival - there’s usually a line to dance as the evening progresses. Keep your eyes open for celebrity sightings; Rumba is a favorite of many professional athletes and recording artists.
